THE WARREN WOOD
RANGERS
A brief summary of achievements
of the Warren Wood Rangers.
History.
Established
originally as the Redbourn Rangers in 2006 they were a pub based team
and used to play normal walk-ons. In 2007 they visited Warren Wood for
the first time and a rapport between the players and the site owner
soon grew. So much so that the team started to assist the site by
helping development of it and soon received support from Warren Wood
Paintball. In December of 2007 following a team meeting WWP was
approached to see if the Rangers could be the sites “home”
team. This was agreed and then in January of 2008 the Redbourn Rangers
were renamed as the Warren Wood Rangers. The team enjoy the scenario
circuit and make many games into a “weekend party” and do
have a reputation for enjoying the odd pint of beer or two and being
very sociable at the events.
At
the Staargate game in September 2008 the Team Captain, was selected as
a faction leader. When players were buying their tickets for this game
there was an overwhelming demand to join the “faction” lead
by the WWR Captain, so much so that many players ended up in factions
that they did not want.
Warren
Wood Paintball has unfortunately in recent months been subjected to a
vicious and organised campaign of vandalism and arsons attacks.
Following these attacks the team have always turned in numbers to help
restore the site to enable it to carry on trading, on some occasions
camping out hoping to catch the perpetrators regrettably to no avail.

Plans for the Future
The
WWR are planning to again attend as many games as humanly possible in
the coming year. This will include trips all over the UK, including one
in Scotland and our first venture into Europe.
There
are 3 games that ALL team players must attend. These are the North v
South Big Game, Time Wars in Surrey and the game to be run by the Wild
Geese details are which to yet to be confirmed.
WWR
have also confirmed their attendance to all 4 WW2 campaign games which
locations range from Exeter to Scotland.
We
will also be sending a large squad to Mahlwinkle in Germany in the
later part of the year. In 2011 we are hoping to bring at least a squad
of 10 to Oklahoma D-Day in the USA and already have in action a
“Player Saving Plan” as the trip to the States is quite
expensive.
We
have always played hard aggressive paintball and intend to keep to this
style of play and our intention and main aim for 2010 is to be the
first team in UKscenario history to retain the UKscenario Team of the
Year.
In
2010 we already have confirmed support from a selection of different
companies. These include Warren Wood Paintball, Shoreline Paintball,
Fat-Bobs Paintball, Yorkshire Paintball Centre, and Talk-Paintball.
In
2008 we all ran Etek 1’s which have proved to be a great and most
reliable workhorse. Some new team members now have Etek 2’s along
with a selection of Ego’s. We have been offered other markers at
very very low cost but to be openly honest they have not been anywhere
near as reliable as the Planet gats already on the team.
We
would dearly love to be able to have Ego 10’s for 2010 and would
ask that you give the WWR some serious consideration for a gun deal for
2010 and look forward to promoting Planet Eclipse during our 2010
campaign.
